WVUH-East To Offer Discount Mammograms
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – West Virginia University Hospitals-East will hold discount mammogram clinics at both City Hospital in Martinsburg and Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson beginning this Saturday, May 1.
These special clinics will be held for four Saturdays – May 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Screening mammograms will be offered at a discounted community service fee of $45 (cash, check or credit card only) which includes the test and the interpretation.
“When we offered these discount mammogram clinics last October, we had 140 participants,” stated Teresa McCabe, vice president of marketing and development for WVU Hospitals-East. “Many of these patients told us they couldn’t afford the test and would have put off scheduling a mammogram had we not held the clinics,” she added.
Although a physician’s order is not required to participate in the mammogram clinics, any patients without a physician will be assigned a physician to receive the test results.
All patients participating in the screening mammogram clinics must register in advance.
To schedule a screening mammogram at City Hospital, phone the community wide scheduling department at 304.264.1297. At Jefferson Memorial Hospital, phone community wide scheduling at 304.724.5647.
“As a not-for-profit community health system, we want to do what we can to assure that tough financial times are not causing people to hold off on scheduling routine preventive screenings,” McCabe said. “We hope to have full schedules at both hospitals for these mammogram clinics, and plan to offer additional preventive testing discount clinics in the near future.”
