WVUH-East Hosts Annual Community Health Expo
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - West Virginia University Hospitals-East will host a Health Expo on Saturday, May 8 from 9 am until 1 pm in the McCormack Center on the City Hospital campus.
As the official kick-off event for National Hospital Week May 9 – 15, the annual Health Expo will feature free screenings, health and nutritional information, and activities for the entire family.
According to event coordinator Jesi Graham, free screenings will include blood pressure checks and BMI/body fat testing. Free colon screening kits will also be available along with self-breast exam models.
Dr. Erik Hurst, a local dermatologist, will offer skin cancer screenings by appointment and hearing screenings will be offered by audiologist Dr. Molly Quattro of Gateway Ear Nose & Throat.
“We are moving our annual health fair to the City Hospital campus this year to showcase our WVUH-East facilities and the current expansion projects,” said Graham. “We want the community to see first hand the growth on our campus while learning more about the health services that we provide,” she added.
In addition to the free testing, a children’s safety fair will be hosted by City Hospital’s trauma services. Tours of The Wellness Center and the outpatient diabetes education department in the McCormack Center will also be available during the expo.
The 2010 Health Expo is being jointly sponsored by WVUH-East and Comcast. For more information or to schedule a skin cancer screening, contact The Wellness Center at 304.264.1232.
