Tools to Achieve a Healthier Lifestyle
(Martinsburg, WV) — Stress is difficult to avoid. Whether it’s work or family life, stress touches each of us on a daily basis. But, what’s important is how stress is managed. To help you learn to manage stress, WVUH-East is offering Discover Relaxation Within.
WVUH-East is proud to be an approved site to offer comprehensive wellness programs, such as Discover Relaxation Within, developed by Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Preventive Health Network. The program fits within WVUH-East’s mission to improve the health status of Eastern Panhandle residents by providing high-quality health and wellness services.
Discover Relaxation Within is a 4-week wellness and lifestyle improvement program designed to indentify and reduce personal stress through practical relaxation techniques and innovative stress management strategies. It gives participants the tools they need to recognize stress, become stress-resilient and develop coping skills. The program offers a variety of useful information, from how stress affects physical health and emotions to how one interacts with the world and others around them.
Participants are taught a variety of skills, including deep breathing, meditation, visualization and progressive muscle relaxation. Upon completion of the program, participants are equipped with newfound coping strategies to manage daily life stressors.
The program is open to all. There is no fee for Mountain State members to participate in these programs and only a nominal fee for non-Mountain State members. New sessions are starting February 11 at 6pm and Feb 22 at 12noon at City Hospital and March 11 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
