Orthopedic Injuries in Children Topic of Community Seminar

RANSON, W.Va. - West Virginia University Hospitals-East and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on orthopedic injuries in children.

The seminar, titled Common Orthopedic Injuries in Children & Teens, will be held on Tuesday, November 13 at the Hampton Inn in Charles Town.  Parents and coaches will learn more about injuries in children and adolescents.  The discussion will also focus on how to prevent these injuries from occurring.

The featured speaker is Nyagon Duany, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with University Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Ranson.  Duany is a member of the medical staff at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, and an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine.

Sign-in for the community mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 pm.  The program begins at 7 pm.  Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the tour.

This community mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of WVUH-East and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division.  Reservations are strongly recommended.  For more information or to register for this program, phone 304-264-1287, ext. 1760.
