MARTINSBURG, W. Va. - Organizers of the 2012 25th Anniversary Bernie Hutzler Golf Classic, sponsored by the foundations for West Virginia University Hospitals-East, are calling Monday’s event a huge success as the annu
al golf fund raiser netted $55,000 to benefit City Hospital in Martinsburg and Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson.
Co-Chairs Chris Colbert and Montie Hicks reported that over 200 golfers played in the annual golf classic held at The Woods. The winning team of Bobby Jones, Josh Riggleman, Bryan Jones and Tom Jones shot a 53 to earn the overall first place finish.
The winning team along with the organizing committee directed proceeds from the tournament to be used for the new outpatient oncology unit at City Hospital and the women’s imaging center at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
To date, over $1.25 million has been raised from the WVUH-East golf tournaments to benefit the two hospitals.
“We thank all of our supporters who year after year make our golf fund raiser a huge success as one of the premier golf events in the region,” stated Teresa McCabe, vice president marketing and development for WVUH-East.
