Depression Topic of Community Seminar

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - West Virginia University Hospitals-East and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Division will sponsor a community mini-medical school program on depression.

The seminar, titled Causes of Depression in Adults and Children in America, will be held on Tuesday, November 15 in the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the City Hospital campus. The featured speaker is Antonio Garcia, MD, board certified psychiatrist with WVUH-East Behavioral Health.

Garcia is an assistant professor for the WVU School of Medicine – Department of Behavioral Health, and is a member of the medical staff at City Hospital. He will be discussing the reasons for depression in adults and children including stress in our daily lives and bullying.

Sign-in for the community mini-medical school program begins at 6:30 pm, with the program to follow from 7 – 8 pm. Light refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the seminar. 

This community mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of WVUH-East and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Division. Reservations are strongly recommended. For more information or to register for this program, phone 304-264-1287, ext. 1760.
