Cassie Simpson, RN (Obstetrics Unit) has been named City Hospital’s 2011 Ginny Jones Memorial Nursing Award Winner. Simpson was recognized for her kind, caring and uplifting demeanor, positive attitude, being great to work with and learn from, as well as being a true asset to her unit and the nursing profession.
The Ginny Jones Memorial Nursing Award, established in 1988 by City Hospital’s Nursing Managers, is given in memory of Ginny Jones, a City Hospital staff nurse from 1962 to 1987, and personifies “the best of the best” in Nursing. Award nominees must be registered nurses who demonstrate devotion to patients through direct parent care, are committed to the value and worth of each individual as a strong patient advocate, promote harmony and group strength of the nursing team, and reflect a professional image and commitment to City Hospital’s high standards of nursing practices. Nurses are nominated by their peers and are recognized and the winner announced during a special reception held during National Nurses Week in May.
Also recognized at the 2011 City Hospital Nursing Awards banquet was Lyn Connelly, LPN, (5th Floor Nursing) named Outstanding Licensed Practical Nurse, and Carol Stotler (Operating Room) who was named Outstanding Nursing Service Technician.
