MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – In March, officials at West Virginia University Hospitals-East were notified that the WVUH-East Regional Cancer Program, based at City Hospital in Martinsburg, was selected by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) to receive its Outstanding Achievement Award, which recognizes cancer programs that strive for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients.
The WVUH-East Regional Cancer Program is one of a select group of 90 currently accredited cancer programs across the United States to receive the award. The CoC Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA) is granted to facilities that demonstrate a Commendation level of compliance with seven standards that represent six areas of cancer program activity: cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical management, research, community outreach, and quality improvement.
The award was recently presented to the medical oncologists and hospital officials. Pictured from left to right: Anthony Zelenka, chief administrative officer at City Hospital, Dr. Matthew Jones, Dr. Eric Bonnem, Dr. Timothy Bowers, and Dr. Terrance Reidy.
