MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Celebrating People In Action is the theme for National Volunteer Week, April 10 - 16, 2011. In recognition of the support that volunteers, auxilians and chaplains provide to hospital staff, patients, families, and the community, the WVU Hospitals-East Board of Directors will host luncheons to honor members of the City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital volunteer organizations.
On April 11, City Hospital volunteers, auxilians and chaplains will be recognized at a luncheon at the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg. On April 26, Jefferson Memorial Hospital volunteers and auxilians will be honored during a luncheon in the hospital’s first floor conference room.
As part of both annual luncheons, each volunteer will be recognized for hours of service to either Jefferson Memorial Hospital or City Hospital over the past year. Members of the hospital auxiliary, the organization that plans fundraisers in support of the hospitals, will be recognized for the financial support they provide the hospitals. The City Hospital chaplains will also be honored for their volunteer efforts in providing spiritual support for patients, families and staff.
Members of the WVUH-East board of directors and executive team will participate in the volunteer recognition luncheons. National Volunteer Week is also an opportunity for the WVU Hospitals-East to create an awareness of volunteer opportunities within the hospitals.
