Advanced Fibroid Treatment Options
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - An alarming 20 to 40 percent of women ages 35 to 55 have been diagnosed with or suffer from symptoms of uterine fibroids. These symptoms often present themselves in different ways.
On Thursday, April 7, WVUH-East’s City Hospital will present a free women’s health community seminar on advanced fibroid treatment options. Guest speaker Vivek Padha, MD, interventional radiologist, will explain current treatment options for uterine fibroids and then answer questions from the audience.
According to Padha, symptoms of uterine fibroids include but are not limited to heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pressure, frequent urination, pain during intercourse and lower back pain.
“It’s important that we educate our patients about the latest medical advances available here at City Hospital and help them find solutions health issues such as this women’s health issue that may limit or decrease quality of life,” Padha stated.
The seminar will be held in the auditorium of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center on the City Hospital campus. Registration begins at 6:30 pm with the program to follow from 7 - 8:30 pm. Refreshments will be offered at the conclusion of the program.
