MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Dawn Kipps, RN, was recently named City Hospital’s Quality Service Award winner for December 2010.
Each month, the hospital’s Service Award Committee selects an employee to receive the Quality Service Award. Kipps, who works in the obstetrics department, was nominated by two co-workers because of her commitment to the community and to the hospital.
Colleagues wrote that one week prior to Christmas, Dawn was taking care of a patient who informed her that she had no running water at home and she could hardly wait to take a shower because she had not been able to do so for a while. Dawn immediately called social services. With their help along with donations from staff and physicians, $300 plus was collected. Dawn demonstrated commitment and caring to the community and hospital.
Criteria for selection as a Quality Service Award recipient includes: demonstrating a consistently high level of productivity and quality of work along with a high degree of initiative in performing work responsibilities, displaying exceptional dependability, exhibiting effective relationships with others, displaying a commitment to service and serving the City Hospital community, and meeting the criteria for the WVUH-East mission, vision and values.
Nomination forms for the Quality Service Award are available at locations throughout the City Hospital campus. Anyone who witnesses an employee displaying outstanding service is encouraged to complete and submit a nomination form.
