West Virginia University Hospitals-East offers Drop 10 in 10 from Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield

(Martinsburg, WV, December 22, 2010) — Drop 10 in 10 is an exciting 10 week weight management program designed to help participants lose 10 pounds or 10% of their weight through a program of balanced nutrition, sensible activity and meaningful lifestyle changes. Drop 10 in 10 is designed to help individuals move away from the all or nothing mentality of fad dieting to the philosophy of making meaningful and long-lasting nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes.
Studies show that reducing weight by 10% can reduce risk or improve the management of chronic disease associated with excess weight, such as high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.    Studies also show that people are more successful when they team up for weight loss. This class provides the group support and encouragement needed for a successful weight loss program. We also encourage participants to enroll with friends, family members and co-workers if possible.
Participants receive an information packed Drop 10 in 10 Participant Kit which includes a Drop 10 in 10 Guide Book, Daily Food and Fitness Journal, tape measure and resistance band all in a convenient Drop 10 in 10 cinch bag.
WVUH-East is proud to offer Drop 10 in 10 as well as other prevention programs through MSBCBS’s Preventive Health Alliance. The programs fits within our mission to improve the health status of Eastern Panhandle residents by providing high-quality health and wellness services.
Drop 10 in 10 will be offered Mondays, February 7 – April 1, 2011 at 6pm in the McCormack Center on the campus of City Hospital.
There is no fee or facility membership required for Mountain State members to participate in the Drop 10 in 10 and only a nominal fee for non-Mountain State members who sign up. There is a materials fee for all. The professional staff at WVUH-East has been trained by Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield to administer this weight management program.
