MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Winners of the seventh annual City Hospital Foundation Tennis Classic, which raised $12,000 for the comfort fund to assist cancer patients at City Hospital, were recently announced.
The champions were Brett Boyd in the men’s division and Lauren Epperly in the women’s. Finishing second were Ivan Benavides and Karen Rice. Benavides also had the most aces. Thirty six players participated in the tournament, which was held on September 11 at St. James School.
The City Hospital Foundation, a member of WVU Hospitals-East, sponsors this annual fall fund raising event along with a group of local physicians who serve on the organizing committee.
Since the tournament was established in 2004, nearly $90,000 has been raised to fund patient care equipment and City Hospital community service projects.
