City Hospital, as a not-for-profit hospital, is exempt from paying taxes that for-profit organizations are required to pay. This would include most income and sales taxes, and some property taxes. In return, City Hospital re-invests any excess revenue back into the organization and community to be used for new programs, services, and technological equipment rather than distributing it to individual owners or stockholders.

As a not-for-profit hospital, we are dedicated to providing care to every member of our community regardless of their ability to pay. City Hospital operates on patient payments and charitable donations alone, and is responsible for bearing the costs of improving quality of care and access to care. A 15-member Board of Trustees directs City Hospital to assure that all members of the community receive the highest-level quality of care at the lowest rate possible.

City Hospital’s mission and vision is to continually improve the health status of our region, through the provision of high quality, cost effective health care and wellness services. As a not-for-profit health care provider, community well-being is our overriding goal and we strive to find new ways to keep the residents of our community healthy.
