William Kao, MD
Dr. William W. Kao graduated from the University of Virginia in 1995 with a degree in chemistry. He then taught high school chemistry at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut where he also coached soccer and basketball. He moved to Richmond, Virginia to pursue a Master's of Science in pharmacology and toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University where he developed a behavioral model for studying nicotine withdrawal for his thesis. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 2004 and went on to the George Washington University in Washington, DC for his surgery and urology residency which he completed in 2010.
Dr. Kao has an interest in laparoscopic urologic surgery and endourology but is trained to provide medical and surgical treatment of the full spectrum of urologic conditions ranging from oncology to kidney stones to male and female urinary problems.
Dr. Kao is a member of the American Urological Association, American Medical Association, American Association of Clinical Urologists, Virginia Medical Society, Eastern Panhandle Medical Society, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Kao's wife is a geriatrician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.
