Alzheimer's Disease

 

As the patient's memory decreases, the stress and amount of support needed from family and caregivers increases. In a group setting, support is provided for caregivers, who are just as much a victim as the patient. Meets the third Wednesday of each month, at 7:30 p.m., in City Hospital's Fourth Floor Transitional Care Unit. Adult day care is provided during the meeting for those interested.
Cancer Survivor / Patient Support Group

 

Cancer patients, survivors, families and friends meet to learn about cancer and related topics as well as offer encouragement and support to all. Meets the second Wednesday of each month, at 6:30 p.m. in the Dorothy A. McCormack Center Conference Room.
 
Children with Diabetes Support Group

 

For children with either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. Meets the second Saturday of each month from 10 - 11 a.m. in the Hospital's Meeting Room 1.
Diabetes Support Group

 

For individuals, their families and friends who face the daily challenges of living with diabetes, this support group provides encouragement, education, the latest information on research, nutrition and more. Meets the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Hospital's Meeting Room 1.
Man to Man

 

The American Cancer Society's local support group for prostate cancer patients, survivors and spouses. Some of the topics addressed are impotence, incontinence, post surgical symptoms and physiological impact. Meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Dorothy A. McCormack Center.
Multiple Sclerosis Support Group

 

Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the McCormack Center's Conference Room.
Project Parent Support Group

 

For parents caring for special needs children. Monthly meetings are held to share resources, educate families, and create an outlet for emotions often experienced in families with a special needs child. The group meets the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Dorothy McCormack Center's Conference Room.
Stroke Support Group - NEW!

 

Brain Power a support group, specifically targeted to stroke survivors and their families. The group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. in the Dorothy McCormack Center's Conference Room.
